Rania Mehio Khalili , (Arabic:رانيا محيو الخليلي) a Lebanese poet and novelist, was born in 7 june 1972. She has published seven books.
Education and career[edit]
Mehio Khalili was born in Beirut, Lebanon in June 7 1972. For years, she lived in Beirut and studied in Lycee schools until 1989. Mehio Khalili and her family traveled to the United Arab Emirates after the civil war in Lebanon began. Her father worked in as a journalist for the Emirati newspaper, Al Bayan. She completed her distance education from a French Education center and obtained a high school diploma. She went back to Lebanon to study in university. She obtained a bachelor's degree in French Language and Literature from the Lebanese University in Beirut. Years later, Mehio Khalili pursued a Master's degree where she researched about french philosopher Simon de Beauvoir, and wrote a yet to be complete thesis. Mehio Khalili worked eight years as a French Language teacher at one of the official institutes in Beirut. She currently resides in Beirut.[1]
She began writing at an early age and participated in a number of literary competitions. In 1985 she won an award for a short story entitled "The Old Man" in a competition held at a school level in Lebanon during the civil war. In 1992, she won another award for a short story entitled "The Other Dress" within a competition held by the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences at the Lebanese University in Beirut.
She began publishing in 2002, when she published her first book entitled "Crying in Hidden", which is a collection of poetic thoughts and contains poems which she wrote at different stages of her life. In 2005, she began writing her second work "The Curse of Berkut", which took her four years to complete because the events of the novel take place between Beirut and Kuwait in which she had to thoroughly study the history and geography of Arab countries, Kuwait particularly. So far, she has published seven books, the last of which was the novel "The Last Sunset" in 2020. She recently participated in literary and cultural conferences across Arab countries [1][2]
