It aims to empower women and youth, encourage the growth of micro businesses for vulnerable women and youth and to drastically reduce the mother/child mortality rate in Kogi State.
Early life and education[edit]
Rashida Yahaya Bello is from Jattu in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. After completing her West African Examinations Council exams, she graduated from the University of Abuja with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy. She participated actively in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja.[2][3]
Personal life[edit]
Rashida Imodagbe married Yahaya Bello who was at that time an entrepreneur, chartered accountant and civil servant with the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.[4][5][6][2][7]
The election of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as Governor of Kogi State in 2015 and consequent inauguration as the Executive Governor of the State on 27 January 2016, Rashida Bello became the first lady of Kogi State.[8]
In April 2021, The governor allegedly had an affair with the ADC, Ms Ifeoma Akaya, for three months. Mrs Ifeoma Akaya, the first female ADC in Nigeria, was appointed by Governor Bello. This upset the governor's wife (Rashida Yahaya Bello) and appeared to be a major disadvantage. Sources say Yahaya Bello put his wife under house arrest and fired all her staff.[9] Later that month, Yahaya Bello said there was a rift between them but said "they are not at war". The statement was released in response to a news that Rashida had left the government residence.[10]
