Raul Kiria (Georgian: რაულ ქირია; born 23 April 1984) is a Georgian journalist and public relations specialist.

Biography[edit]

Raul Kiria was born on April 23, 1984, in Khobi, Georgian SSR. In 2005, he graduated from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, and in 2006, he graduated from the Tbilisi Institute of Ecology and Economics with a degree in International Relations. In 2018, he received a master's degree in political science from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

He worked for the newspapers: თბილისი (Tbilisi; 2001–2002), თბილისელები (Tbiliselebi; 2001–2003), and თავისუფალი გაზეთი (Free Newspaper; 2003–2005). In 2002–2003, he was the founder and chief-editor of the magazine კვირის ბოლო (End of the Week). In 2005–2007, he worked as a reporter for the Georgian First Channel and Mze TV.

In 2008–2009, he was the director of the Media Center of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and he worked as an advisor to the Chairman of the Government in 2010–2013.

In 2009–2010, he was a media consultant for the non-governmental organization "Coalition for Justice", and in 2011–2012, for the "Educators and Scientists Free Trade Union of Georgia." He founded the news agency "Front News - Georgia" in 2012 and "Front News - Ukraine" in 2017. He has been the agency's editor-in-chief since the same year.

Yevhen Nyshchuk, a former Minister of Culture of Ukraine, awarded him an honorary diploma in 2016, for his journalistic contributions to Georgian-Ukrainian cultural relations.[1]

In 2017, he was an advisor on strategic communications to Ukrainian politician Inna Bohoslovska. He worked as a crisis and communications management consultant for the Chairman of Ukraine's National Bureau of Investigation in 2018. He served as an advisor to the State Representative of Imereti in 2019[2]–2020. He has worked with Nino Surguladze's charity foundation "Desire Tree" as a media consultant and project manager since 2014.

He has lectured at the European University since 2020. Raul Kiria has a wife Nino Lomiashvili and 2 children.
