Background and production[edit]
After releasing their debut album Twenty One Pilots, founding members Chris Salih and Nick Thomas left the band due to Nick pursuing further education and Chris because of various financial pressures. Chris recommended fellow Guitar Center employee Josh Dun to join the band, which he did. After the departure of Nick and Chris, Tyler and Josh recorded Regional At Best.
Discontinuation
When Twenty One Pilots signed to Fueled By Ramen, Tyler signed off the rights to Regional At Best to keep the rights to their self titled, and the album subsequently became discontinued.
