The Regional News Group (RNG) is a collective aggrupation of digital multimedia platforms covering local/regional news and current affairs programs thru syndication on radio, television, and social media.
RNG began around September 2020, and is currently owned by former/retrenched employees of the now-defunct ABS-CBN Regional group but operates independently, with most of them are former anchors/reporters and staff members.[1][2] This comes after ABS-CBN Corporation closed its Regional division, including 12 regional editions of TV Patrol and 10 local morning shows, following the rejection of the media company's franchise renewal by the House of Representatives on July 10, 2020.[3][4]
There are separate versions (created independently) forming the RNG group, namely: RNG Luzon (based in Northern and Central Luzon), Alpha News Philippines (Palawan), RNG Bicol/Bicol.PH & Aksyon Ko Online TV (based in Southern Luzon), Digicast Negros (based in Western Visayas), Sibya TV (based in Central and Eastern Visayas), and RNG Mindanao (based in Northern, Central and Southern Mindanao). While these groups continue to syndicate its programming, some reporters continue to contribute local news stories on ABS-CBN News, either full-time or as news stringers.
