Related word
In lexicology, a related word is a word that is related to another word through a meaningful relationship and is often found in the same context. A related word is distinct from a synonym in that it cannot replace the other word, but is rather merely associated with it.[1].
A related word is associated to another word through a semantic relationship. Unlike synonyms, not all related words of a given word are directly related among them. For example, though child and collectible might each be related to toy, that doesn't mean that child and collectible will often appear in the same context and have a meaningful semantic relationship between them.
Several tools exist that give a list of related words for a given term and some online dictionaries[2][3][4] add them as additional information.

Techniques[edit]
Many different techniques can be applied to extract related words. These include word embedding[5], semantic networks, knowledge graphs and artificial intelligence. Lexical databases such as WordNet group nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs into sets of cognitive synonyms which result in a network of meaningfully related words and concepts[6].
