The band have played all across the country including on the main stage of the Isle of Wight Festival, they were placed on BBC Radio 6's BBC Music Introducing mixtape by Tom Robinson and have been placed on Spotify's "New Punk Tracks" and "Punk Unleashed" playlists.[2] The band signed to Burger Records in early 2019.

History

"Reminders" were formed in 2017 by frontman Leo Dyke, son of BBC Radio Solent presenter Alex Dyke. Dyke recruited bassist Theo Afsarian whom he knew through his older brother and drummer Harry Spencer, a lifelong friend of Dyke's who he was previously in a band with.[3] Their main influences include The Cure, Green Day and The Beatles.[4]

In 2017 the band signed to Isle of Wight based label 'Chalkpit Records' where they released their debut single 'Purple Stripes' on February 17th.[5] On July 6th, the band released their debut EP "Water Sports and Major Cities," recorded at Studio 5A in Northwood which was followed by a headline show at "Strings Bar and Venue" in Newport.[1]</ref> The EP was described in a review by Ellie Roffey as sounding like a mixture of The Beach Boys and Ramones.[6] The EP also featured their single 'If I Know You,' as well as the song 'Handbrake,' which was the first song that the band wrote together.[7] Following the release of the EP, Afsarian took a short break from the band during which he was replaced by Max Battista.

On February 17th 2018, they supported "Dead!" at The Joiners in Southampton for their UK tour supporting their debut album "The Golden Age of Not Even Trying" alongside "The Kenneths" and "Valensole."[8] In June the band ventured out on a UK tour which included shows at "The Hope and Ruin" in Brighton and "Heartbreakers" in Southampton[9] Alongside the announcement of the tour, the band announced their second EP "All Talk, No Action" described on the band's Bandcamp page as "a biter and jaded edge to a seaside suburban lifestyle, hidden behind the bands huge hooks and gripping stories."[10] In May of the same year, the band won "Platform One College of Music's" 2018 "Wight Noize" competition which resulted in the band opening the main stage of the 2018 Isle of Wight Festival performing before Gerry Cinnamon, Hudson Taylor, Hurts, Sheryl Crow, Van Morrison, Manic Street Preachers and headliners The Killers.[11]

In January 2019, the band performed a special Live Lounge for BBC Radio Solent at Solent University in Southampton where they performed the songs "Handbrake" and "If I Know You."[12] Early in 2019 the band caught the attention of Sean Bohrman, founder of California-based record label Burger Records and signed them to a distribution deal. Bohrman described the band as "beach punk at it’s finest!”[13] On April 13th the band played a headline show at The Joiners with support from Chichester-based indie rock band "Dutch Criminal Record" and fellow Isle of Wight-based psych-punk band "Fat Earthers."[14] In May the band released their first single through Burger Records entitled "Post Paris Blues" produced by Boe Weaver, who previously produced records for Wolf People and Rhys Lewis.[15] GetSome Magazine described the single as "two minutes and forty-three seconds of no-shit, pop-punk blissfulness" and compared it to early-Blink-182.[16] In July 2019 the band announced a September UK tour which includes dates in Leeds, St Albans, Brighton, London and Southampton.[17] Their second single under Burger Records, "Picturesque," was released on September 6th 2019.[18]

In March 2020, the band released their single 'Carousel' described as a "scorching piece of slacker pop" and compared to Male Bonding.[19] Discussing the single, Dyke said "“I would literally sit and watch the wheels go round, having mundane and dull thoughts while getting sunburnt and watching other people enjoy their summer. Everyone’s on a different carousel, it’s a metaphor asking if the routine you’re stuck in that’s going round and round will ever break, or if you just sit there and let it continue to happen.”[20] Following the release of the single, the group announced a UK tour however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour was subsequently cancelled.
