Zombies Ate My Girlfriend is a South African metal band from Cape Town, South Africa.[1] Formed in 2012, the group consists of vocalist Gavin Marchbank, drummer Ferdi Groenewald, bassist Marc Olwage, guitarists Adriano Rodrigues and Chris Hall.[2]
History[edit]
Since their formation, Zombies Ate My Girlfriend has released two studio albums and one EP. In 2012, they released their debut EP Patient Zero. In February 2015, they released their first studio album Retrocide.[3] In 2015, the band was awarded the South African Metal Music Best Core Award and the African Metal Award for Outstanding Performance and Quality.[4] In addition, Zombies Ate My Girlfriend participated in the "Protest the Hero South African Tour" and played at the "Krank'd Up Music Festival 2016".[5]
In April 2016, Zombies Ate My Girlfriend won the Wacken Metal Battle from 39 participating bands during Wacken Open Air 2016.[6][7][8]
The band released their second album, Shun the Reptile on 2 November 2018.[9][10]
