History

Render was founded in 2018 by Anurag Goel and launched its cloud platform in April 2019.[1] In October 2019, the company won the TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield competition in San Francisco, receiving $100,000 in equity-free funding.[2]

During 2022, Render expanded its geographic presence by opening hosting regions in Singapore and Ohio.[3] The platform became available on AWS Marketplace in September 2024.[4]

Funding

Render raised $2.25 million in seed funding in April 2019, led by General Catalyst.[1] The company raised an additional $4.5 million in October 2020, also led by General Catalyst.[5]

In November 2021, Render announced a $20 million Series A funding round led by Addition, with participation from General Catalyst and South Park Commons.[6]

In June 2023, the company raised $50 million in Series B funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners, bringing its total funding to $77.5 million.[7] At the time of the Series B, the company reported having 500,000 developers using its platform.[7]

In January 2025, Render raised $80 million in Series C funding led by Georgian, with participation from 01A, avra, and existing investors. This brought the company's total funding to $157 million.[8]

In November 2024, Render was included in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Cloud Application Platforms.[9]
