Life and Work[edit]

Renee is the first daughter of Hans Karl Döring and Meta Spira, Hans was a German sculptor and designer who worked in India from 1939.[5] In order to avoid increasing anti-semitic reprisals, Hans and his Jewish fiancée Meta Spira had to emigrate to India in 1939, before Renee's birth.[5]

In 1968 Renee was a part of the architecture and design team to design The World is My Family pavilion for the Gandhi Centenary Exhibition, along with Dashrath Patel, Chandralekha (dancer), Vikas Satwalekar and others.[1][6]

Renee married Colonel Shamsher Singh, who was a ministerial candidate and aide-de-camp of Major General Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad, the Maharaja of Baroda State, with whom she has a son Ishwar Singh.[2][7]
