RentReporters is a U.S.-based credit reporting agency that reports monthly rent payments to major credit bureaus.[1][2]

History

RentReporters was founded in 2012 in Pasadena, CA by Jason Greenman, who was the company's first CEO. In 2013, John Simpson joined as a board member and investor, and expanded his role in 2016 to become CEO of the company.[2] The platform pioneered the process of informing credit bureaus about a tenant’s rental payments so the information can be added to credit reports.[3][4][5]

The process involves reporting the amount and timeliness of rent payment, and any balance owed.[6] This rental payment information then appears on their consumer credit report with other financial obligations such as auto loans, credit cards, and student loans.[7][8] The company works directly with landlords to confirm on-time rent payments.[9] The company generates revenue by charging $94.95 to sign up followed by a $9.95 monthly reporting fee.[10][11][12]

As of 2016, RentReporters has partnered with LeaseLock to provide renters with an enhanced leasing experience by combining their respective services.[13]
