Reverend Oliver Dean Snow (born August 8, 1991), formerly known online as Lucien LaCrypt, is an American activist. Speaking primarily on social media, he is an advocate for mutual aid, communism, and the improvement of the lives of transgender people.[1]
Activism[edit]
Snow's most successful activism and advocacy exists on the social network TikTok, where he has accrued more than 100 thousand followers across several accounts.[2] Since 2020, he has made hundreds of short videos with the platform covering many topics, including communism in both theory and practice, issues faced by transgender people such as himself, and the culture and politics of Appalachia.[3] Snow has popularised the term "cornbread communism" to describe his and other similar sociopolitical philosophies.
In 2021, Snow was ordained as a reverend and helped start the Holy Dionysian Church of Mothman, an organization named for the cryptid of the same name.[4] Instead of a physical church, the Church of Mothman is a mutual aid organization based primarily online, with events coordinated in communities within Appalachia.[5]
Personal life[edit]
Snow was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1991.[6] A gay transgender man, Snow was assigned female at birth and began transitioning as an adult, a process which he often mentions or addresses on social media.[7]
Snow lives in Huntington, West Virginia, and has one son, born in 2016.[8] He is married to Bradley Everett.[6]
