Ricardo Jose Martinez (born March 6, 1969) is an American bassist known for his work as a session player and for collaborating with Puerto Rican singer Chayanne.
Early life and career
Ricardo Martinez began playing bass professionally at age 17, performing with a top-40 band in Venezuela. He studied music theory and guitar under Aldo Balestrini†, an alumnus of Berklee College of Music and Franco Nasi, a graduate of Musician Institute. He later received instruction in drums and piano while teaching himself the electric bass.
In 1999, he moved to Miami, Florida, to launch his career as a session and live musician, collaborating with artists in Latin pop and other genres. [1] [2] [3]

Instruments
Ricardo Martinez primarily plays Lakland bass in studio recordings. For live performances, he has used instruments from Sterling by Music Man, Fender and Michael Kelly, along with Hartke amplification and Valeton effects pedals.
