Life and career
1997–2014: Early life
Richard Yashel Camacho Puello was born on January 22, 1997, in The Bronx, New York to Dominican parents Richard and Luceily. His father is a cameraman, while his mother is a dancer. He has two siblings: Dairan and Yashua, who is also a singer. Camacho's family moved back to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, where he grew up for the first ten years of his life, before returning to New York.[2] Camacho grew up listening to Latin and R&B music and grew a passion for dancing due to his mother.
2015–2023: La Banda and CNCO
Camacho auditioned for the first season of La Banda, a Hispanic singing competition series, alongside his brother Yashua. Despite passing the auditions, Yashua did not make it to the second phase, leaving Richard to continue alone in the competition. During the competition, Camacho performed as a soloist and with other boys in bands formed by the judge panel, composed of Laura Pausini, Alejandro Sanz, and Ricky Martin.
