Richard Michael Dantona (born January 20, 1977) is an Italian-American entrepreneur and business owner based in Florida. He is the founder of Academy Home Kitchen & Bath, Inc., Academy Home Developments, Inc., and the Florida Warriors Youth Hockey Association.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
Early life and education
Dantona was born in Bayshore, New York. Dantona was raised in part by his maternal grandmother, Dolores J. Murillo, who he has credited with influencing his early values.[1][2][6][7]
He graduated from East Islip High School in New York and began working in construction at the age of 15, participating in a renovation project at the Montauk Lighthouse. He also had minor involvement in local acting, including a paid extra role in A Beautiful Mind (2001).[1][2][6][7]
Career
Construction and real estate
In 1997, Dantona established his first construction business, Academy Mobile Enterprise, Inc., in New York. In January 2003, he relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, bringing his business with him.[1][2][3][7]
In 2001, Academy Mobile Enterprise contributed to the installation of emergency mobile office space for first responders at the World Trade Center site following the September 11 attacks.[1][2][3][7]
In 2012, Dantona opened Academy Home Kitchen & Bath, Inc., a kitchen and bath showroom in Cape Coral, Florida. The following year, he expanded the company with a granite import, fabrication, and sales center in North Fort Myers. His businesses have received multiple local awards for services including home remodeling, countertops, cabinetry, pool refinishing, and screen enclosures.[1][2][3][7]
In 2016, Dantona founded Academy Home Developments, Inc., a real estate development company specializing in speculative and custom-built homes. Following Hurricane Ian, he was involved in rebuilding and renovating homes across Cape Coral, Matlacha, Sanibel, Captiva, and Fort Myers.[1][2][3][7]
Youth sports initiatives
In 2020, Dantona founded the Florida Warriors Youth Hockey Association, a program based at the Fort Myers Skatium. The association fields teams for various age groups, including an all-girls team called the Lady Warriors. The program participates in tournaments and league games across Florida and nationwide.[1][2][3][7]
Dantona also co-launched RzR Edge Hockey Academy, providing specialized on- and off-ice training in collaboration with former NFL player Jaylen Watkins.[1][2][3][7]
Personal life
Dantona has been in a long-term relationship with Amy Hoff since 2004. They have two children, Myla Jean Dantona and Dominick Angelo Dantona. He is the nephew of comedian and actor Vincent Dantona.[4][5][7]
