Richard Iyasere also known as Enogie of Newyork or DaddyRich (born on 22 August 1968) at Usonigbe in Nigeria, is a traditional dance choreographer and a Cultural activist, working internationally in so many traditional forms. He is best known as the creator of "Akwete dance", a local dance style for Edo Funk genre, which he performed at Igue festival in 1980.[1]. In 2014, he was honored as Africa diaspora hero by Bill de Blasio, a recognition for his immense contribution to African diaspora communities [1]. In 2021, he won "Edo Excellence award" for Edo Patriotic of the year, presented by Victor Uwaifo[2]. Richard is the Flag bearer of “Benin artefacts repatriation campaign organisation” to retrieve artefacts that were confisticated during Benin Expedition of 1897 for Oba of Benin. In 2017, Richard was at Front line protest to request Nigerian Copyright Commission to pay music royalties of Edo Funk musicians from Edo state, following the extreme poverty of a long list musicians, whose music had been on radio rotational airplay for over 40years in Nigeria[3][4][5]
