Richard Rotoye (born 7 May 1978) is currently the Group Managing Director and CEO of Creditville Group..[1]

Early life[edit]

Rotoye was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on 7th May, 1978 to the family of Prince Joseph Rotoye-Orimolade and Victoria Rotoye-Orimolade from Oka-Akoko, in Akoko South West Local government area of Ondo State.

Education[edit]

Rotoye attended the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife for his first degree where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Education degree in Economics, and the University of Lagos for his Master’s degree. In Unilag, he studied Master’s in Risk Management. He is also a Stanford University-trained executive. At Stanford University, Rotoye attended the Stanford seed [2] program for corporate executives.

Career[edit]

Rotoye started his working career in the family business and also taught at two schools while he was studying for his degree program, Misty Gee School [3] (Ile-Ife, Nigeria) and Adof Peace nursery and primary school [4](Surulere,Lagos)

In 2006, Richard served in Hadejia, Jigawa state in the NYSC programe before starting his career in finance. Rotoye began his career in finance with Mutual Benefits Assurance PLC, Lagos in 2007. In 2008, he joined Cavadri Capital Limited- a Financial advisory firm based in Lagos and London, where he was part of a team that provided financial and investment advisory solutions for a number of clients both locally and internationally.

In 2010, Rotoye joined Rosabon Financial Services; one of Nigeria’s largest Financial Services Providers. At Rosabon, he was the Head of Credit Control and Risk Management, overseeing the firm’s entire risk portfolio.

Rotoye joined RenMoney Microfinance Bank Limited as Head, Credit Risk Underwriting, one of the largest technologically driven Micro-finance Banks in Nigeria.

After a successful stint at RenMoney MicroFinance Bank, He joined Creditville Nigeria Limited where he has led the firm from being a single lending company in 2013 to becoming a Fintech group by 2020.

Creditville Group is an award-winning finance services group in Nigeria with various financial and investment services, with a business presence in five branches nationwide. Creditville group currently consists of Creditville Nigeria Limited, Creditville Finance Limited, Redwood Asset Management, TouchGold Microfinance Bank [5][6], Dawanau BDC Limited, and Creditville Properties Limited as her subsidiaries.

Rotoye was recently featured in The Guardian’s special focus - Nigeria’s most impactful and award-winning CEOs in 2021.[7] [8]

He is a member of several professional bodies locally and internationally. Fellow - Institute Credit Administration[9], Associate - Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers[10], Associate - Institute of Credit and Collection Management of Nigeria[11], Chartered Institute For Securities & Investment, and CIBN Certified Member[12]

Philanthropy[edit]

Rotoye volunteered in the HIV program for his National Youth Service Corps, covering the entire Hadejia area in Jigawa state. Rotoye subsequently volunteered at the Lagos food bank initiative in 2018-2019. Over the last decade he has made contributions to several NGO's and foundations.

In November 2021, during the Elev8 Talent Summit, acting as one of the key players in the fintech space in Nigeria, Rotoye advocated that government, leaders must help the youth to acquire necessary skills in technology. He also advised that young people must continuously evolve and reinvent themselves, as today’s work ecosystem is constantly changing. [13] [14][15]
