Personal Life[edit]
Lindland was born in Bay City, Michigan. His family moved to Studio City, Los Angeles from a Chicago suburb, Deerfield, when he was four years old. While Lindland was in high school, he tried out for a professional boxing gym in Van Nuys and became an amateur boxer for Greg Goossen from the renowned Ten Goose Professional Boxing.[1][3][4] He listed as one of Greg Goossen's notable boxers.[3][4]
Lindland graduated from Northwood University with a business degree. While Lindland was attending business school in Michigan he started training and competing in judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Lindland won a bronze medal in the Maumee Bay Classic Judo Tournament, Maumee, Ohio, October 23, 2010, and he won 2nd place at the 2011 Konan Invitational Judo Tournament at Michigan State University, February 27, 2011. Lindland continued training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu even after returning home to Los Angeles. He won a gold medal in the 2012 Los Angeles International Jiu Jitsu Open, June 23, 2012, and on October 28, 2017 he won a silver medal in the Sport Jiu Jitsu International Federation World Jiu Jitsu Championship. Lindland is an animal rights activist. He became a vegetarian for ethical reasons. On March 22, 2017, he joined a group of activists to give water to the pigs that were confined in the back of trucks arriving at a slaughterhouse in Los Angeles. After seeing the hideous conditions the pigs were subjected to, he started a petition to protect pigs from abuse in factory farming. He used his petition to campaign for the welfare of the pigs. He returned to the slaughterhouse to give the pigs water on July 11, 2017 and January 21, 2018. The photos and video from his visits were used to expose the reality of factory farming and gain support for his campaign.[7][1]
