Shen Quanrui (Chinese: 沈泉锐; pinyin: Shěn Quánruì; born 20 May 2004), known professionally as Ricky Shen or simply Ricky (Hangul: 리키), is a Chinese singer and dancer. He is best known for competing on the Mnet reality competition show Boys Planet, where he ranked 4th in the final episode, thus earning him a spot in the winning group, ZeroBaseOne.
Early life[edit]
Ricky was born in Shanghai, China on the 20th of May, 2004.[1] He lived in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A for a period during his teenage years due to his parents' work, and attended high school there. He thus grew fluent in speaking English.[2] Ricky is trilingual in Chinese (Mandarin), Korean and English.[1]
Career[edit]
2022–present: Boys Planet and Zerobaseone[edit]
On December 29, 2022, Shen was unveiled as a contestant on Mnet's reality survival show Boys Planet.[3] He joined the show as one of the eight trainees sent from Yuehua Entertainment. The show premiered on February 2, 2023.[4]
On April 20, 2023, Shen placed 4th with a total of 1,572,089 points in the final episode of Boys Planet, allowing him to debut with the winning group, Zerobaseone (ZB1).[5][6]
On June 7th, the group's label, Wake One Entertainment, confirmed July 10th as their debut date with the release of their first mini album, "Youth In The Shade".[7][unreliable source?]
