Rinkoo Barpaga
Rinkoo Barpaga is a British stand-up comedian, performer and documentary artist. He is Deaf and a British Sign Language user.

Barpaga was born in Birmingham to a hearing family. His family is originally from Punjab, India.[1]
He began his career as an on-screen presenter for ITV in 2003, before working for MTV, Channel 4, Discovery and other TV channels, translating up to 4 hours a week from English to Sign Language.
He then studied comedy in New York in 2012 thanks to a project set up by Deaf Explorer and debuted at Gotham Comedy Club in 2013. Once back in the UK, he received a grant by the Arts Council England to develop and tour his own first show, "Am I funny?".[2] Barpaga performs comedy in BSL, and he uses an interpreter to provide the voice over for the hearing audience.[3]
Barpaga is a keen photographer and videomaker. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with the documentary film "Double Discrimination", which tackles the issue of racial discrimination within the deaf community.[4][5] The documentary won the ‘Disability Justice Award’ at Superfest International Disability Film Festival in the USA (2016). He produced the short "Bubble and Butch" for Unlimited (2017).[6]
In 2018, Barpaga was part of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s artist development course, 'The Foundry', and developed his next production, "Made In (India)Britain" during this residency.[7]
Barpaga has also acted as a BSL consultant on a number of movie sets, exhibitions, art installations and performances, specialising in urban sign language.[8]
He is a patron to the Midlands Deaf charity Action Deafness.[9]
