Pastor Dr. Rita Lai is the wife of Pastor Wilfred Lai and co-pastor of Wilfred Lai Ministries[1], a Kenyan and international mega ministry focused on the growth and spread of the word of God both in Kenya and globally. Dr. Lai is one of the top women who have devoted their lives to Jesus Christ and the spread of God's word through women in Kenya. She is also part of the Wilfred Lai Foundation.
Early life in Ministry
Pastor Lai was called to the ministry in 1982 while working at Standard Chartered Bank in Machakos. She joined Life Ministry (Christian Campus for Christ) in Nairobi in 1983 and was then transferred to Mombasa where she was the Director of Coast Province and also the assistant pastor of the local Redeemed Gospel Church. In 1986 she became the Senior Pastor and, at the same time, left Life Ministry to concentrate on her new assignment.
Ministry
Rita Lai has assisted Wilfred Lai in raising Jesus Celebration Centre[2] from a humble membership of 60 people to its current position of more than 10,000 members. The headquarters of the church is in Bamburi, Mombasa, Kenya, and the sanctuary has a seating capacity of 30,000 people. She envisions the church having four services each Sunday with a total of 120,000 members.
As Pastor to the four Centers located within Mombasa and three others (two in Nairobi and Tala center), she makes regular visits to conduct Revival services to strengthen them and release the grace she carries. Every last Sunday of the month, in the evening service, all the centers and their branch churches gather to connect with the grace. Every three months, all JCC centers close and gather for a joint service at the headquarters.
Family
Rita Lai is married to Wilfred Lai. They have two sons, David Lai and Daniel Lai, who are also part of the ministry.
