Robert Joseph Rom (born 16 January 1982) is the vocalist in the rock grunge band Static Tension since 2015.
Personal life
Parents Sandra Meyer and Robert Rom divorced when Rob was 10 years old. Rob was moved around a lot and was bullied in school and turned to 90s grunge and heavy metal. He dropped out of Diamond Oaks vocational school his junior year and began a career installing floors to make money after being told by a teacher that he was a future burger flipper. Rob lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Sarah and his two daughters, Charlie Ann and Scarlett Carolina. He has two brothers, Cody and Randy Rom.
Music career
1997-1999: Deadbreed
Rob’s highschool metal band, all that exists of the recording is a few scratched demo discs owned by the members Kelly Cowan on guitar, Casey Cowan on drums, and Ben Schmerr on bass.
1999-2002: Lights over Carpathia
Starting in 1999, Rob was invited to jam with friends of his brothers. L.O.C was born. Bob Lavigne and Gary Frey on guitars, Ian Vashon on bass, Dale Kinard on drums, Rob on vocals and for the first few months, Mike Woodrum on the samples. Lights over Carpathia released one album entitled “Where endings start, beginnings end” and was a limited print. They disbanded in 2002 before being able to release the follow up EP “Don’t feel bad”.
2002-2006 Murdered by Martyrs
Only 6 tracks exist from this project featuring Bob Lavigne on guitar, Tj Stenger on drums, and Ben Schmerr on bass
2006-2009 Bedtime Apocalypse
A full album entitled “The Embrace” had a rough recording done. Featuring Bob Lavigne on guitar, Ben Schmerr on bass, and Chris Moorman on drums
2011 Redwithin
Short lived cover band
2012-2014 Moon
Fantasma Nella Testa, the only album by Moon, was a hybrid of 70s stoner rock and a mix of random styles loved along the way by each member, featuring Bob Lavigne on guitar, Ian Vashon on bass, Tj Stenger on Drums. Moon split over schedule conflicts
2015-present Static Tension
2 EPs “Rebirth” and “Out of Reach”[1],[2] Featuring Greg Blachman on guitar and backing vocals, Tony Sager on drums and percussion, Ritchie Paik played bass from 2015-2018, Brian Spurrier replaced Ritchie in 2017
