Robert Kalin is an American entrepreneur, born on April 11, 1980. A self-taught programmer, Kalin founded Etsy in 2005, aiming to create an online marketplace that could replace platforms like Craigslist.[1]
Kalin started studying art at New York University in 2000 and began learning programming languages during this time.[2] He founded Etsy with the idea of creating a platform to sell art and handmade goods online. Initially only open to his friends and family, the site quickly gained a lot of attention.[3]
