Robert McCluer Calhoon, (born: October 3, 1935 - January 14, 2022) was an American military historian and expert on the American Revolutionary War.

Early life and education

He was born on October 3, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Forrest and Elizabeth Calhoon.[1] He got married to Doris Abernethy in June 1965. They had one daughter named Claudia. He completed his Ph.D. in history at the then Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.[1][1] He was a lifelong member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.[1] He served as a professor emeritus of History at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.[2]

He died on January 14, 2022, in North Carolina.[1]
