Robert Tuchman
Robert Eric Tuchman is an entrepreneur in the sports and entertainment industry having started, built and sold two experiential based businesses. The first business, Tuchman Sports Enterprises was founded in 1997 as an innovator in the business of offering exclusive experiences to attend major sporting and entertainment events. It was later sold to private equity firm Pfingsten Partners in 2006. It was part of a business that was acquired by William Morris Endeavor in 2019. The second business, Goviva was founded in 2011 as a bucket list experience company based around culinary, sports and lifestyle themes. It was sold to Creative Artists Agency in 2015. Tuchman has been quoted as a leading authority in the sports business by publications including USA Today, The New York Times and BusinessWeek. He is currently the host of Entrepreneur Magazine's "How Success Happens" podcast.
Professional career[edit]
Tuchman graduated from Boston University College of Communication with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1993.
He began his professional career with Sports Phone in 1993, while also working as an investment advisor with Lehman Brothers.
From 1994 to 1996 he was a sales representative for Chicago-based promotion company, Sports Profiles.
In 1997, he founded Tuchman Sports Enterprises in his one-bedroom Manhattan apartment. TSE had offices in Cincinnati and New York. TSE made the Inc. 500 list of America's fastest growing companies in 2005. In February 2006, Tuchman sold the majority of TSE to North America Sports Media, a platform company of private equity firm Pfingsten Partners. TSE became Premiere Global Sports in June 2008. It was recently part of a business acquired by William Morris Endeavor in 2019.
Tuchman signed an agreement with AMACOM in 2007 to release a part autobiography and part “how to” book titled Young Guns: The Fearless Entrepreneur's Guide To Chasing Your Dreams and Breaking Out on Your Own. The story is a self-proclaimed inspirational one, for readers looking to succeed in business by following their passion in life- something Tuchman says he did with his dreams of working in sports. Tuchman is also the author of 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live. Both books were released in April 2009.
In 2012, Tuchman started Goviva offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences around culinary, sports, and other lifestyle themes. Goviva made the Inc.500 list of America's fastest growing companies. It was acquired by Creative Artists Agency in 2015.
Personal life[edit]
Tuchman has been involved with several New York-based charity organizations. He is a board member for the New York Chapter of the ALS Association and was involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team and Training. An avid runner and triathlete, he has completed an Ironman Triathlon on two occasions.[1] Tuchman is on the board of New York Edge. New York Edge works with over 40,000 New York City school kids by offering them after school opportunities with sports and arts programs.
