Roberto Cacciapaglia (born 28 December 1953 in Milan) is an Italian pianist and composer whos compositions blend electronic experimental music with the classical tradition.

Music career [1][edit]

Early life and education[edit]

Graduaded in composition from the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan [2], under the guidance of Bruno Bettinelli. He lately worked at the Studio of Musical Phonolog of RAI, the Italian State broadcasting company, and reasearched computer applications in the field of music at the National Research Council (Italy).

The German period

In 1974 he recorded “Sonanze”, the first quadraphonic LP.[3] ever released in Italy. This work written in the genre of cosmic music[disambiguation needed] for keyboards, symphonic orchestra, and singers, was produced by the German label Ohr and later on brought him into contact with Popol Vuh and Tangerine Dream. The latter is a Michigan-bred singer who spun into Cacciapaglia's orbit during a trip to Italy in the 1970s to do some modeling. The Ann Steel Album [4], a collection of songs for the namesake supermodel, is the one-off result of that happy accident.

Early years[edit]

He published and performed various albums, experimenting with styles and musical forms: “Sei note in Logica” (‘Six Notes in Logic’ released by Philips – 1978) for voice, orchestra, and computer, a piece with only six notes exposing them in all possible combinations. At the Aterforum of Ferrara in 1988, he performed in concert with Terry Riley “In C” [5], an anthem of minimalist music, (Mirumir – 2012), published along with “Transarmonica” [6]
