Roberto Tomas Alejandro Lombardi (born 31 December 1963), is an American actor, producer and musician. He is known for playing Freddy Krueger in the web series Krueger: Tales from Elm Street. Lombardi has appeared in a variety of films, television shows and web series, as well as writing, playing and producing music on various albums.
Early life[edit]
The only child of Fernando Lombardi and model/actress Dolores M. Lombardi, Roberto Lombardi was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and brought up in Villanova, Pennsyvania. He attended St. Thomas of Villanova, a catholic school in Rosemont, Pennsylvania and went on to attend Archbishop John Carroll High School and Temple University film and drama school in Philadelphia where he appeared in several plays (with actress Kate Flannery) and was a member of various bands. He began his career at an early age, appearing on the Gene London Show (1959) at age 7, then began music lessons (drums) and showed a natural ability for music. He quickly moved on to other instruments (bass) in order to learn to not only play, but write his own songs, later taking voice lessons to handle lead vocals.
At age 16, an interest in acting resurfaced. He studied acting in high school and college, then found theater roles both in school and regionally, eventually landing extra / featured roles in several major motion pictures.
Career[edit]
Music[edit]
Lombardi began his music career as a drummer and formed his first band, Eclipse, while still in grade school. He continued playing until graduating high school when music became his focus. He wrote, recorded and toured nationally with several bands, learning to play bass, keyboards and guitar in the process. he made the leap to professional musician by joining Detroit punk band The Facts in 1981. The Facts toured the north eastern and mid western United States through 1982 and settled back in Detroit post tour. Upon returning to Philadelphia, Lombardi joined The End and started playing on the famed 1980's Philadelphia area club circuit that spawned Cinderella (band) and Britny Fox. By the time he joined Brat in 1987, he had switched full time to playing bass. The band April Fool attracted the biggest audiences and their album "Playin' to Win" saw release in 1989 (and again in 2014). After leaving April Fool in 1990, Lombardi formed The Rage, handling lead vocals and bass guitar duties and was the principal songwriter. After two albums, most notably "Rock & Roll It", Lombardi stepped away from music. Between 2001 and 2007, Lombardi recorded and toured with Red Sky (album "Game Theory") and Road Trip (album "Driven") before switching full time to his career as an actor. He still writes music for his films and licenses songs from his past bands to film soundtracks.
Acting[edit]
Roberto Lombardi began his career at an early age, appearing on the Gene London Show at age 7. Then, at age 16, an interest in acting resurfaced. He studied acting in high school and college, then found theater roles both in school and regionally in productions such as Inherit the Wind and Grease, eventually landing extra / featured roles in major motion pictures such as Blowout. After a period of touring in rock bands, Lombardi again became focused on acting, signed with several agencies and began modeling while taking additional acting classes. Since then he has appeared in many films, television shows and commercials in a variety of roles in films such as The Happening, Bazookas: The Movie, Masks (2017 film), Stand Off, Perfect: Android Rising and The Cemetery (2013 film), as well as the popular web series Krueger: Tales from Elm Street and The Nightmare Ends on Halloween II (as the iconic Freddy Krueger), Escape from New Jersey and Mr. J. Krueger: Tales from Elm Street[edit]
Roberto Lombardi is known mostly for his role as Freddy Krueger in the web series Krueger: Tales from Elm Street. The six part series has amassed a huge, global fan base and been translated into Spanish, Italian and Russian for those markets. Press coverage and support from the A Nightmare on Elm Street fan base has been outstanding with many fans, journalists and bloggers showing their acceptance of Lombardi as Krueger by petitioning Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema to cast Lombardi in any future installments of the Elm Street series.
