Rocky Hollow (Welsh: Deri Deg) is a British, stop motion, puppet, animated children's television series set in a woodland forest named Rocky Hollow. It was made in Wales and was originally broadcast from 1985-1986 on S4C.[1] It produced by Rockscene Ltd and is Bumper Films first tv show ever made. Bumper Films the company that made the series would later go on to produce Fireman Sam, Joshua Jones and Starhill Ponies for the BBC afterwards.[2] The series was narrated by British actor Peter Sallis best known for playing Norman Clegg in the BBC sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine. After Rocky Hollow Sallis then went on to voice Rat in Cosgrove Hall's The Wind in the Willows and he also went on to voice the cheese loving inventor Wallace in the Wallace & Gromit franchise as well.[3][4]
Plot
Set in Wales in a forest called Rocky Hollow, Mr. Oak, Acorn, Sycamore, Miss Myrtle, Conker and Rosie Woodpigeon live in the forest together away from the open world. During there daily life routine days in Rocky Hollow they like doing jobs, exercising, magic tricks and having picnics together. Although many of the antics they get up to don't always go according to plan.
Characters
- Mr. Oak - An old man that wears a yellow shirt and a big brown hat. He acts very wise and helps out his friends to keep them on track, but he can sometimes be a bid silly.
- Acorn - A young boy that wears a blue singlet and a baseball cap. He is also the nephew of Mr. Oak. He also likes to ride his skateboard as well as play tricks or mess around, but he's also very caring as well.
- Sycamore - A tall skinny looking young man who wears white gym clothing and a long red scarf. He is a very close friend with Acorn and he often helps out Mr. Oak mainly doing tasks with him. He sometimes can be clumsy or trip over his own scarf but he is still very friendly.
- Miss Myrtle - A lady with blonde hair and wears a purple dress. She always loves to be well dressed and wear lovely looking hat's. She also likes cleaning, Swiping and organising picnics.
- Conker - A man with red ginger facial hair, with a large red nose and he also wears overalls. He is a handyman that works in Rocky Hollow, who often fixes things like doors, clocks, chairs and boxes. Sometimes his friends often help him out at his workshop. He also builds things for everyone as well.
- Rosie Woodpigeon - A female bird Pigeon that wears a post hat and yellow boots. She goes around delivering letters to everyone in Rocky Hollow from her yellow post bag. She sometimes delivers parcels and she often stops to have tea with her friends. She also calls everyone her "Lovlies".

Reception
The series was actually first released and broadcast from 1983-1984 in Wales titled Deri Deg with it being narrated by Dillwyn Owen for the Welsh dub. Various magazines about the series where also released around the same time period by Sbectel.[5][6] On the 17 April 2018 Rocky Hollow was featured in a BBC article titled "Cofio ein hoff gartŵns Cymraeg". The article was about classic Welsh-language animated series that left a lasting impression on viewers, especially during the 1980s and 1990s. The article highlights beloved shows that were either produced in Wales or dubbed into Welsh and broadcast on S4C, such as Wil Cwac Cwac, Superted, Joshua Jones, Fireman Sam and Rocky Hollow. The shows featured in the article are remembered fondly for their unique charm, storytelling, and their role in shaping childhood memories for a generation of Welsh-speaking children.[7]
Home media
In the UK, 3 VHS volumes of Rocky Hollow each containing 8 episodes were released as well as a VHS tape that contained 5 of the episodes from volume 1. Episodes 25 and 26 have not been released on home media and it's unknown what the titles of both the episodes are. The series is also another one of the rarest shows in existence because the series has never been released on DVD and all the VHS tapes are now officially out of print. Several of the episodes though have been uploaded online.

Trivia
- The show was shown in Ireland and New Zealand alongside the repeats of the tv series DuckTales on RTÉ One in 1991. In 1992 the show was shown as part of The Saturday Club alongside repeats of Thunderbirds, and the Irish puppet series The Rimini Riddle on Network 2/RTÉ2.
- The series was broadcast from 1987-1989 in America, with an American dub narrated by the late Herbert Morrison and produced by Apple Entertainment.
