Ronald David Baratono (born April 22, 1959) is an American Actor and Writer[1][2][3] from Melvindale, Michigan. Baratono has held roles in 10 major productions and is the author of four books with over 80 poems published.[4] In addition, short stories, quotes, song lyrics and prayers. His writing work has been spread across the internet and social media and is greatly appreciated by college students, high-end stockbroker managers, and other authors as well.[5][6][7] In addition on January 15, 2021 PR Newswire, and other media outlets named Baratono one of the top read authors on the internet.

Early life and education[edit]

Baratono was raised during the '60s in Lincoln Park, Michigan with his 3 siblings.

He was a student of Herbert Hoover Elementary and Huff Junior High School. Baratono enjoyed sports his entire childhood from age 5. Baratono earned numerous varsity letters through his high school sports career.

His family relocated to Melvindale, Michigan in 1975, where he graduated from Melvindale High School in 1977.

Baratono attended Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, for an associate degree in Applied Science in 1993. He then graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration, majoring in Management in 1995. Baratono has a passion for writing, publishing his first non-fiction writing piece, "Family Reflections" in 1995, which was showcased in The News-Herald (Southgate, Michigan). With over 200 published quotes,[8][9] his writing work has been referenced by college students, regarding such studies, as Improving Self-Esteem with Motivational Quotes,[10] with one study in 2018-2019 winning the Jerome S. Bruner Award at Duke University.[11][12]

Professional career[edit]

Baratono started a job two weeks after graduating from high school at Ford Motor Company as a Press Operator at the Dearborn Stamping Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. His employment with the automobile manufacturer began in 1977 at the Dearborn plant and lasted for eight years. Eventually transferred to Ford's Livonia Transmission Plant, the largest manufacturing facility in North America,[13] where he spent ten years in various classifications of transmission product development, before finishing out his last twelve years as a Manufacturing Technician.

Baratono is also an inventor.[14][15][16][17] From 2000 through 2005, Baratono was awarded four United States, telematics and vehicle communication patents.[18][19] Baratono was also featured in the New York Times newspaper in 2004 for one of the patent grants he was awarded.[20] After reaching thirty years of full retirement seniority at Ford Motor Company, Baratono accepted his retirement package in 2007 at age 48.

Baratono began his career in the entertainment industry in 1984, directing The Blarney Stone Show on Wayne Cable Network (now W.O.W. Cable). Through 1985 - 90s, he performed Community and Dinner Theater and later went on to appear in the John Mayer music video "Clarity" in 2004.[21]

In 2010, Baratono was cast in the primary role as Hugo in the Laguna Films[22] independent production of "Search for Love Lost," directed by Joey Harlow, released on DVD in 2011. Following this role, Baratono was cast along with George Clooney in Ides of March as a dining guest. Baratono played a sports reporter in Mitch Albom's "Have a Little Faith" in 2011.[23] Baratono was cast as the boxing trainer on ABC's Detroit 187, airing from 2011–2012. Baratono is also known for featured roles from 2011 as a father in Ron Oliver's "Smooch," and as an NFSB agent in "The Last Man Standing," as well as a Qualding Farmer in the 2013 Disney production "Oz the Great and Powerful."[24][25] He also appears in the Mariah Carey music video, "Almost Home".

Personal life[edit]

Ron married Pam (Johnson) Baratono in 1985, and the two settled in Allen Park, Michigan to start a family. They have two sons. Scott Baratono (1989), a musician of four instruments,[31] and Davenport University in-fielder, Tyler Baratono (1992).[32] The couple later divorced in 2008.
