Roshan Ali Shaikh (Urdu: راشن علی شیخ) is a Pakistani civil servant who has been the Director General of the National Institute of Management Karachi since August 2016.[1] Shaikh has served on various positions in Sindh and Punjab. A double-master degree holder in economics and urban development, he joined the Pakistan Administrative Service after clearing the CSS exam.

Career[edit]

Shaikh is among the well-known bureaucrats of Karachi, having held various administrative positions in the city's administrative setup. Shaikh served as Commissioner Karachi, the top bureaucratic slot of the city's administration.[2] He also remained as the city's municipal chief as he headed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).[3] Shaikh also served as Karachi's District Coordination Officer (DCO).[4] Another key post in Karachi that Shaikh served on was as the deputy commissioner for District West.

Shaikh remained the managing director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management.[5] In Karachi's District Government, he served from 2005-2006 as the executive district director for finance and planning; and as executive district officer for revenue. As EDO Revenue, he launched an extensive operation against land grabbers and cleared around 500 acres of illegally occupied land.[4] Shaikh also served as project director for the Karachi mega city development project from 2006-2008.
