Rothko is an upcoming American drama film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson from an screenplay by Lara Wood. The film stars Aisling Franciosi, Russell Crowe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jared Harris.[1]

On March 5, 2021, Rothko was announced as a film package to be auctioned at the European Film Market, with Sam Taylor-Johnson attached to direct and an adapted screenplay by newcomer Lara Wood. The first five actors attached included Aisling Franciosi leading, as well as Russell Crowe, Mark Rothko, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jared Harris. Joining Sam & Aaron Taylor-Johnson as producers on the film will be Jared Freedman and David Silverton, with Jonathan Schwartz and Logan Lerman executive producing. Colleen Atwood will serve as costume designer, Jeff Cronenweth as cinematographer and Mark Friedberg as production designer.[1]

Principal photography was set to begin on June 7, 2021, in New York City.[2][3]
