Ruby Love (formerly known as PantyProp, Inc.) is a New York-based period-proof apparel company that makes period underwear, period swimwear, period sleepwear, and more with leak- and stain-proof protection from menstruation and incontinence. They also have a men’s underwear line for incontinence protection.
History[edit]
Ruby Love was founded in 2015 as PantyProp, Inc. by Crystal Etienne after a years-long struggle of irregular periods and mild incontinence following the births of her two children.[1] Using $25,000 of her own money, Etienne quit her job as a controller and spent her time developing hundreds of prototypes for what would become the company’s period-proof underwear design, featuring a patented five-layer gusset to absorb leaks and stains and prevent odors, while also being easy to wash and maintain.[2] The underwear was designed to be worn without additional protection like a tampon or pad, but if the wearer decides they would like additional protection based on their flow or needs, the gusset features a built-in pocket for pads or the company’s exclusive double-sided reusable pad.
After creating the gusset and underwear, the period-proof technology was also brought to lines of swimwear, activewear, sleepwear, and incontinence briefs for men. The company was the first in the world to sell period-proof swimwear for women and teen girls.[3]
PantyProp Inc. was rebranded to Ruby Love in June of 2019 with the same products and patented technology with a new look to the company’s website. The Ruby Love name is derived from “ruby,” symbolizing a woman’s period and a sign of health and growth, and “love,” representing the company’s commitment to deliver the highest level of care and quality.[4]
