Rui Freire de Andrada

Rui Freire de Andrada was a Portuguese soldier and captain-major. Born in Beja, Alentejo, he was the son of João Freire de Andrada. Beginning in 1609, he served as Captain-Major in India, defending the cities of Chaul, Bassein, and Daman. From 1619 onward, he fought the English and Persians in the Persian Gulf. He died in 1633.[1]
