Rupaali Biswas

Rupaali Biswas is a Bengali politician and youngest candidate of 2019 Indian general election in West Bengal.

Career[edit]

Biswas is a member of Matua community, migrated from East Pakistan (Bangladesh). She passed B.A from Kalyani University[1] and married in November 2016.[2] Her husband Satyajit Biswas was a double time All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislator from Krishnaganj (Vidhan Sabha constituency) of Nadia district. Satyajit was killed on 9 February 2019 at a Saraswati Puja inauguration.[3][4] On 12 March 2019, Chief Minister of West Bengal Smt. Mamata Banerjee considered and announced Rupaali's name as a candidate in Ranaghat Lok Sabha.[5][6] At the day of nomination on 5 April 2019 she only twenty years and eight days old. Smt. Biswas is the youngest candidate in West Bengal and one of the youngest candidate in Indian general elections, 2019 appeared from Ranaghat (Lok Sabha constituency).[7][8][2]
