Russian Ballet Theatre (RBT), is a ballet company, that’s mission is to preserve classical traditions of Russian ballet. The company was founded in 2015 by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick.
Dancers[edit]
Russian Ballet Theatre cast consists of professional ballet dancers, who received a specialized education in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, that was based on the studying of the Vaganova method, the ballet technique and training system.
The main part of the company dancers graduated from The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and worked at the most famous Russian theaters such as The Mariinsky Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre, The Mikhailovsky Theatre.
Since 2015 the principals of the Russian Ballet Theatre troupe have been Olga Kifyak.[1] and Evgeniy Svetlitsa[2]. Olga Kifyak is a Ukrainian ballet dancer, the 1-st soloist at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after T.G. Shevchenko (since 2001).[3] Evgeniy Svetlitsa is a Ukrainian ballet dancer, the soloist at Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet..[4] since 2000.
In 2019 Ekaterina Sapogova[5] and Alina Shteinberg, honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, joined the main troupe of RBT. Ekaterina Sapogova was nominated twice for The Gold Mask Award as the best female performance in a ballet for “Romeo and Juliet” (directed by Viacheslav Samodurov) and “Naiad and the Fisherman” (directed by Yuri Burlak).

- Nadezhda Kalinina is a Russian choreographer, Chief choreographer of the Omsk State Musical Theater.
Her works were choreographed in theatres of Russia and other countries, including the Mariinsky Theater, the St Petersburg Chamber Opera Company,[6] the St Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy, the Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theater, the National Opera and Ballet Theater of Baiseitova, the Rostov State Musical Theater, the Omsk State Musical Theater, the Musical Theater of the Republic of Karelia, the Sverdlovsk State Theater of Musical Comedy, the St. Petersburg State Theater Through the Looking Glass, Teatro Lirico Cagliari, etc.

Repertoire[edit]
Every fall since 2015 the troupe has been on U.S. national tour.
The repertoire of the company consists of such classical productions as “The Swan Lake”[7], “the Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “the Cinderella”.
RBT produces a new show each year.
“The Swan Lake” and “the Nutcracker” were choreographed by Nadezhda Kalinina.[8] The hand-painted costumes and hand-painted sets were designed and created by Sergei Novikov.[9][10]
Feedbacks[edit]
The performance was warmly welcomed by american audience. They say that "this version of Swan Lake with the Russian Ballet Theatre did not disappoint"[9]. And that "the RBT production captivated us with Russian traditions while adding new choreography, hand painted sets, and beyond beautiful hand sewn costumes [9]. "Olga owned the stage with her powerful and ethereal dance and the most amazing extension.[9] The performance received good feedbacks in the media:"a heightened sense of reality, folk tales and folk dances transmogrified into sinuous spectacle by the touring company"[10]. Critics say that "it was a treat to see probably some of the finest ballet artists in the world. This is probably as good as it gets".[11] "The ballet combines pure romanticism and tragedy in a magical tale of love and deception."[12] "The target audience for ‘Swan Lake’ is ‘any age,’ because it tells a timeless, classic story in a colorful and bold new way".[13] "Those faithful to the tradition of ‘Swan Lake’ must see Russian Ballet Theatre’s new production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s timeless classic."[14] "Summarizing the whole experience in one word, that was amazing! The company has performed across the United States in theaters including the Orpheum in Minneapolis, the Majestic in Dallas, the Majestic in San Antonio, Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY, Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, CA, Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA, The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, Jacobs Music Center and Balboa Theatre in San Diego, CA, Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks, CA, Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts in Colorado Springs, CO[16] and the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore.
