Ryan Barton-Grimley is a Zimbabwean actor, writer, producer and director best known for his work in Tropix, Criminal Minds etc.[1][2]
Early life and career[edit]
Ryan was born on April 22, 1974, in Salisbury, Rhodesia to Philip Barton-Grimley and Cecilia Barton-Grimley. In 1983, Ryan's family emigrated from Zimbabwe to Carpinteria, California USA where he attended Mount Carmel Catholic School and later graduated from Carpinteria High School in 1992 with honors. Ryan raced BMX bikes and was ranked No. 3 in the country in 1989 in his age group. He studied fine art and film at San Francisco State University. In 2000, he graduated with a BA in Art History with honors from UCLA. In 1995, Ryan got a Screen Actors Guild union card in FOX Movie of the Week – The Price of Love. In 2002 he produced his first feature film Cash Cowboy with Shamus Murphy. In 2004, Ryan played a major acting role in the film TROPIX, playing the love interest of actress Danielle Bisutti. In 2007, he got his first acting role on network television, Criminal Minds. In 2010, Ryan wrote and directed the feature film The Truth, starring actors John Heard, Brendan Sexton III, Erin Cardillo and Daniel Baldwin. In 2017, Ryan produced and starred in the award-winning horror short film Shanghai Faders, produced and starred in the award-winning feature film Repatriation, and wrote, directed, produced and starred in the award-winning comedy about homophobia, Elijah's Ashes. In 2020, Ryan wrote, directed, produced and starred as the character of Hawk in the award-winning horror-comedy feature film, Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers.[3][4][5][6]
