Ryan Hamilton Zehl is a personal injury attorney and founder of Zehl & Associates, a law firm in Houston, Texas.

Ryan Zehl received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin in 2001.[1] He then pursued his Doctorate of Law (J.D.) from South Texas College of Law.

In 2007, Zehl founded Zehl & Associates. It was selected as a 2020, 2021, and 2022 finalist for "Personal Injury Law Firm of the Year" by Law.com and the National Law Journal.[2][3]

Zehl has been interviewed on CNN,[4] and Good Morning America,[5] and appeared in newspapers, including the New York Times,[6] the Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune, The Houston Chronicle, and Dallas Morning News.

In 2007, he represented Alison Chang, a 15-year-old student from Dallas, whose photo was used by an ad agency that took it from a social media platform without her permission.[4][7][8][5]

In 2008, Zehl represented Claudia Falkenberg in a sexual harassment lawsuit against Jimmy Bedford, a former Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey master distiller.[9][10]

In 2010, Zehl reached a confidential settlement with British Petroleum (BP) and Transocean on behalf of five workers who were injured onboard the BP Deepwater Horizon when it exploded.[11] Later that year, Zehl resolved all claims filed against International Paper on behalf of David and Darren Clark in connection with injuries they received when a boiler exploded at one of International Paper's mills in Mississippi.[12]

In 2012, he recovered the largest accident verdict in Texas ($18.8 million) against Greyhound Lines on behalf of a passenger who was injured when the bus rolled over on icy roads on the Texas-Oklahoma border.[13]

In 2013, Zehl recovered a $3.2 million verdict against Offshore Liftboats after a four-week trial in the Eastern District of Louisiana on behalf of a ship worker who was dropped over 20 feet during an offshore crew transfer.[14]

In January 2014, Zehl represented an injured offshore worker in a lawsuit against Harvey Gulf International Marine. In April of the same year, Zehl obtained a $4.1 million verdict against R+L Carriers, for a client injured when her vehicle rolled over after being rear-ended by one of R&L's truck drivers on the highway.[15]

In 2016, Zehl obtained a $6 million settlement on behalf of four bus passengers who were injured in a Greyhound Lines crash after successfully petitioning the court to order a sleep apnea test of the Greyhound bus driver.[13][16][17]

Zehl represented individuals who were injured in the Watson Valve Valve explosion in January 2020, the ITC refinery explosion in May 2019, the Williams Olefins plant explosion, and the Williams Gibson plant explosion.[18][19]

In 2021, Zehl reached a $90 million settlement for an oilfield worker who sustained severe burns when an oil well exploded during a workover in Burleson County, Texas. The settlement is the largest oilfield settlement awarded to an individual plaintiff in U.S. History.[20]
