Ryan Kinder is a country singer-songwriter and guitar player from Birmingham, AL.

Early life[edit]

Ryan Kinder was born in Knoxville, TN on August 1, 1988. Soon thereafter the family moved to Birmingham, AL. From a young age, he was an avid baseball player and hunter. As a young musician, Kinder cites his early influences as John Mayer, Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, and Marc Broussard. While in high school, he began playing his first local shows, a hobby he continued after he entered The University of Alabama as a freshman.[1]

Career[edit]

In 2007, Ryan Kinder independently release his eponymous first album and continued touring around Alabama. Soon after he met producer Keith Stegall who helped the young singer-songwriter begin to make his way in Nashville.[1] Known for working with artists like Alan Jackson, George Jones, Zac Brown Band, and others, the endorsement of the producer led to a record deal with the now-defunct Bigger Picture Music Group. After recording with Stegall, the label released his debut single, "Kiss Me When I'm Down." In May 2014, after Stegall had severed ties with the company, the label shuttered.[2]

In August 2014, Kinder signed with Warner Music Nashville.[3] The following year, he released his debut for that label, "Tonight." The next few years saw more single releases including "Close" and "Still Believe in Crazy Love." While the songs found an audience on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music, the songs never found success at terrestrial Country radio.[4]

On October 16, 2020, released a collaboration with Sykamore under his own Crimson Garden Records label. Critic Robert Oermann wrote in Music Row Magazine, "This is a fiery male-female duet performance that builds in intensity as it unspools. One person can't move on if the other person doesn't hurt as badly. I have always liked this guy's singing, and he's just as potent with a harmony partner."[5] A music video for the song premiered on CMT December 1, 2020.[6]

Personal life[edit]

Kinder is married to his high school sweetheart and 2019 Mrs. Tennessee, Heather Kinder.[7]
