Career[edit]
After graduating from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, Ryan landed the lead role as the teenage sociopath, Eric Harris, in the Off-Broadway[7] play, The Columbine Project[8].
Ryan started acting for the screen in several short films including: Beautiful (2009)[9], Enamour (2010)[10], Inconclusive (2011)[11], Any Day Now (2011)[12], I Love You (2011)[13], True Work (2012)[14], Appetite (2012)[15], Little Kung Fu Dude (2012)[16]. During this time, Ryan began to write and produce his own material. After co-writing his first screenplay, Fickle, Ryan co-wrote, co-produced and starred in his second screenplay called Placebo (2013)[17]. Placebo became an Official Selection at Five Film Festivals: Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF)[18], Soho Intl. Film Festival (SIFF)[19], Garden State Film Festival (GSFF)[20], WorldFest: Houston Intl. Film Festival[21], and the Scarborough Film Festival[22]. Ryan also co-wrote, starred in and co-produced Muddy Boots (2013)[23], which had its World Premiere at The Soho International Film Festival
Ryan O'Callaghan now has over 30 acting credits[24], recently starring in Ari Taub's wacky gangster comedy, 79 Parts: Director's Cut (2019)[25], opposite Eric Roberts[26] and Sandra Bernhard[27]. Ryan also stars in Elias Campbell's Walk in the Park (2018)[28]; Rakhee Morzaria's Note To Self (2017)[29], which was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award[30]; Jana Stackhouse's sweet and quirky, The Man Who Doesn't Sleep (2017)[31]; a coming-of-age indie film called Minor Motion Picture (2017)[32]; a romantic comedy called, Sam (2016)[33], directed by Nicholas Brooks (son of Mel); and a raunchy college feature called Total Frat Movie (2016)[34] directed by Warren P. Sonoda.
Alongside his film credits, Ryan continues to work with Godlight Theatre Company[35] in New York City, whose mandate is defined by a sharp appetite for groundbreaking, innovative work. Past Godlight credits include: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest[36] (Billy Bibbit), The Pilo Family Circus[37] (Special Drama Desk Award[38]), and In the Heat of the Night[39] (Drama Desk Award).
