Ryann Grochowski Jones is an American data journalist. She is currently a Deputy Editor for Data at ProPublica.[1]
Education[edit]
Jones graduated from Bishop Hoban High School in 2004. In 2008, she graduated from King's College. In 2011, she received her Master's degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism[2].
Career[edit]
Jones's first job out of college was as a municipal beat reporter for her hometown paper, The Citizens' Voice.[3] She also worked as a copy editor and page designer.[3] There, she discovered her love for computer-assisted reporting. While pursuing her Master's degree, she worked as a data librarian at the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting (NICAR). While in graduate school she was also a news editor at the Columbia Missourian.
Following graduate school, Jones spent a year as a data reporter at KPBS in San Diego, California. In 2013, she began to work as a data reporter for ProPublica in New York, New York.
She is currently a visiting editor for the Journalism and Design Program at The New School.[4]
Personal Life[edit]
In 2014, Jones married Wall Street Journal journalist Coulter Jones.[2]
