Satpal Chauhan, commonly known as S. P. Chauhan, (born 19 April 1961) is a social activist in India. Also, he is an educationalist for which he has shown immense effort and work for the betterment of the country India. SP Chauhan is in the list of social activists and educationalists in India known for their contribution. He is the founder of Navchetna which is an NGO working for social causes leading to the empowerment of women and upraise in the poverty level across India. His work has been also showcased in his biopic S.P. Chauhan, which is a feature film featuring Jimmy Sheirgill, Yuvika Chaudhary and Yashpal Sharma.

Life and profession[edit]

SP Chauhan was born on 19 April 1961, hailing from Night, which is a small village in Karnal district, Haryana that is a vital part of modern North India. SP Chauhan had his early education in Nigdhu at Government school Nigdhu after which he completed his secondary education at SD Senior secondary school Karnal. Later, he completed his graduation from Government College Karnal. As a child, SP Chauhan was more fond of stories that how India got its independence than fairy tales, which developed a sense of Patriotism since he was very young. He was fascinated with the stories for Indian freedom narrated by his mother. When he realized that India is yet to get freedom from social evils, he came forward as a social worker from Karnal serving for several issues individually as well as under Navchetna Manch. Along with an NGO, he is also the director of Anthem International School Karnal.

Activism and socialism[edit]

SP Chauhan had made up his mind to fight against social evils at a very young age, which was followed due to his family's happenings and concerns. As a child, he would hate people who were alcoholics as it was the main reason for a human being to lose temperament as well as generosity. He took stand against it at a very early stage of his life, which made him brave and clear on his dream of a better India. As a child, SP Chauhan was very close to his mother and believed that women should be respected, if not more than, then equal to any other men in society. He internally worked for the betterment of women's recognition and status in a family. Soon, he became a part of his National level campaigns against Alcohol (anti-alcohol campaigns, anti-liquor campaigns. Alcohol ban in states of India) and drugs while he was still pursuing his graduation. SP Chauhan, as per his wisdom tells he is blessed with very honest and deliberate friends whom he credits for supporting him at every path of his struggle to make an alcohol-free society. SP Chauhan, who believes that charity begins at home, has extensively worked for the upliftment of his village children, worked against Dowry system and practices, Feticide and Gender Discrimination, Drug Consumption and Addiction and other ills that are deeply rooted in the society and its people. He is known for his inspirational Real stories.[1]

Vision and wisdom[edit]

SP Chauhan, who is a well-known personality of Haryana, closely works for the betterment of India as a country. Along with raising women empowerment and education among poor yet deserving children, he has been serving in some crucial yet majorly affected areas of social sectors. He is closely working for adaptation and rehabilitation for specially challenged persons. He has been serving campaigns to encourage girl education and increase awareness for gender equality and save girl child-killing and abuse. Apart from it, several Blood donation camps, Awareness campaigns, environment-saving, and Plantation campaigns have been served by his NGO Navchetna Manch. The purpose of Navchetna is to serve humans by getting together all the people who can and want to serve for the betterment of society.

Anthem International School: The Idea[edit]

Being the director of the Anthem International School, Karnal district, Haryana, Chauhan had a revelation to protract as an educationist with the idea of serving education to the needy and the monetarily unfortunate. His educational vision directs that all children have the potential and aptitude to learn when the core curriculum and directives are inclusive in design and implementation to accommodate the diversity of learners. A successful learning environment can be achieved through high expectations, clear goals, and collaboration with parents and educators. Efforts like these are the success stories of Indian teachers.

Biography: Sangharsh Ko Salaam[edit]

SP Chauhan’s biography named S.P. Chauhan Ke Sangharsh Ki Daastan: Sangharsh Ko Salaam was launched in 2018. The book was written by Sandeep Sahil and has sold a number of copies in the literary market. The book is the showcase of Chauhan’s life and ongoing struggle along with his personal as well as professional life happenings. The book has an introductory message written by Hon. Defense Minister of India Shri. Rajnath Singh, which states that the book is a beautiful journey to know the fight of Chauhan’s life that made him known as a social activist in India. Whereas, he congratulates him for the same. Hon. Governor of Haryana Kaptan Singh Solanki and Hon. CM of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar is among others whose introductory messages are in the book.[2]

S. P. Chauhan: The Movie[edit]

S.P. Chauhan (release date: 7 February 2019) is a feature film in Hindi Language release in India country of origin. It is a feature film made on a social worker and their works. The movie is directed by Manoj K. Jha and features Bollywood stars Jimmy Sheirgill as S.P. Chauhan, Yuvika Chaudhry as Seema, Yashpal Sharma as Jai Singh, and Deepak Mor as Aman. The story and screenplay for the movie are by Jagat Bhushan Singh (dialogue), Shailendra Tiwari (dialogue) and Manoj K. Jha (writer). The genre of the movie is drama based on the life of Shri S.P. Chauhan (Thakur Satpal Chauhan), A social worker from Karnal, Haryana. It highlights his journey from poverty to prosperity in adverse situations, and the struggles he faced while working as a social worker for several social issues. The movie collected appreciations from the Bollywood critics with an 8/10 IMDB rating.[3]
