SBSS UUV

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

SBSS unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV)s are remotely operated vehicles (ROV)s developed in the People's Republic of China (PRC) by S.B. Submarine Systems (SBSS, 中英海底系统有限公司), a joint venture between Global Marine Group (GMG) and the China Communications Services,[1]and they are mainly used for under underwater cable laying and maintenance.[2]

Dragon Plough[edit]

Dragon Plough (Long-Li, 龙犁) remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROUV) is an UUV for laying cables. Specification:[2]

  • Maximum operating depth: 100 meter
  • Cable burial depth: 3.3 meter

HP-1500 (MD3)[edit]

HP ROUV is an underwater plough designed to dig trenches for laying underwater cables.[3]Specification: [3]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 1500 meter
  • Propulsion: 2 x 265 kW pumps
  • Cable burial depth: 3.25 meter
  • Maximum diameter of cable can be layed: 0.15 meter
  • Maximum diameter of cable can be repaired: 0.38 meter
  • Length: 9.5 meter
  • Width: 5.1 meter
  • Height: 7 maximum
  • Weight: 23.1 ton

Hi-Plough[edit]

Hi-Plough ROUV is an underwater plough designed to dig trenchs for laying underwater cables.[4]In comparison to MD3 HP-1500, Hi-Plough can operate at greater depth, with the maximum operating depth increased by a third from the 1500 meter of HP-1500 to 2000 meter.[4]Specification: [4]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 2000 meter
  • Propulsion: 2 x 265 kW pumps
  • Cable burial depth: 3.25 meter
  • Cable burial speed: 0.6 – 1 km/hour, depending on bottom soil conditions
  • Length: 9.8 meter
  • Width: 5.6 meter
  • Height: 5.6 maximum
  • Weight: 24 ton

Predator[edit]

Predator (Bu-Lie-Zhe, 捕猎者) ROUV is designed for underwater observation and inspections missions,[5]and it is equipped with two cameras and a sonar.[5]The standard maximum operating depth is 300 meters, but up on customer request, this can be increased to 1000 meter.[5]Predator has been used in East Sea windfarm since early 2020 for underwater inspection, making it the first ROUV utilized in Chinese offshore wind O&M sector.[5]Specification: [5]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 300 or 1000 meter
  • Length: 0.9 meter
  • Width: 0.62 meter
  • Height: 0.45 maximum
  • Weight: 0.065 ton
  • Payload: 10 kg
  • Speed: 3 kt
  • Turn rate: 120° per second
  • Tether diameter: 14 mm
  • Tether length: 450 meter

Q1000[edit]

Q1000 ROUV is designed to dig trenches for laying underwater cables.[2]Specification:[2]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 2000 meter
  • Power: 1000 horsepower
  • Cable burial depth: 3 meter

ST200 Sea Lion I[edit]

ST200 Sea Lion (Hai-Shi, 海狮 Chinese) I ROUV is designed to dig trenches for laying underwater cables.[6]Unlike other SBSS UUVs, ST200 Sea Lion I did not enter service for underwater cable laying, neither did it enter service for oil exploration, but instead, it entered service in 2009 as a scientific research tool onboard Chinese research ship Ocean 6 (Hai-Yang 6-Hao, 海洋六号) for geological researches.[7][8] Specification: [6]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 2500 meter
  • Propulsion: six 12” horizontal & four 12” vertical thrusters
  • Cable burial depth: 1.5 meter
  • Cable burial speed: 0.1 – 0.2 km/hour
  • Maximum diameter of cable/pipe can be layed: 0.36 meter
  • Speed: 2.6 kt maximum
  • Length: 3.22 meter
  • Width: 2.94 meter
  • Height: 2.92 maximum
  • Weight: 6.55 ton

Sea Lion III[edit]

Sea Lion III ROUV is designed to dig trenchs for laying underwater cables.[9] In comparison to its smaller cousine ST200 Sea Lion I developed earlier, Sea Lion III is much larger and can handle additional products such as repeaters and joints, in addition to cables and pipes, and it can lay cables and pipes at faster speed.[9]Specification: [9]

  • Maximum depth of operation: 2500 meter
  • Propulsion: six horizontal & four vertical thrusters
  • Cable burial depth: 3 meter
  • Pipelin burial depth: 2 meter
  • Cable burial speed: 0.6 km/hour
