Seun Bankole (born 15 August 1983), known professionally as SB Live, is a Nigerian gospel singer and live band leader. He is the founder of the SB Live Band and convener of the annual Invibe Concert. Active since 2008, he is known for blending Yoruba traditional sounds with contemporary gospel music.
Early life
Bankole was born on 15 August 1983 in Ogun State, Nigeria. He developed an interest in music from a young age, influenced by gospel hymns and traditional Yoruba music.
Career
SB Live began his professional music career in 2008. He performs with his band at live events and concerts, often incorporating gospel, juju, afrobeat, and highlife influences.
In 2020, he released the live gospel project titled Gospel According to SB Live, a reinterpretation of gospel music through a Yoruba cultural lens.[1]
He organizes the annual Invibe Concert, a gospel music event featuring various live performances.[2]
SB Live has performed at several large-scale events, including the Lagos Shopping Festival in December 2024, where he appeared alongside Nigerian artists Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, Teni, and Ayo Maff.[3]
He also performed at the 2024 Christmas edition of the Owambe Party event in Lagos.[4]
Recognition
In 2023, SB Live received the City People’s Most Stylish Showbiz Personality of the Year award and was also honored as the Outstanding Performing Live Band of the Year at the Cool Wealth Awards.[5]
