SHIELD (previously CashShield) is a global enterprise Cyber Security company that leverages over a decade of domain intelligence and artificial intelligence to help companies block fraud in real-time. Its SaaS-based Autonomous Risk Intelligence platform provides cyber protection to enterprises across the globe, covering industries such as e-wallet, Super Apps, e-commerce, travel, retail and gaming.

SHIELD is headquartered in Singapore with offices in Indonesia, Germany and USA.

History[edit]

SHIELD was founded in 2008 by Justin Lie as CashRun, before a 2016 re-branding to CashShield. He developed a prototype fraud management system centred around automation and optimisation in order to verify incoming transactions.[1] In 2008, CashShield became the first fraud management solution to offer a 100% chargeback protection guarantee to merchants.[2] CashShield engaged in a period of research and refinement, working with gaming marketplaces in Europe before soft-launching their first product at CeBit 2011 in Germany.[3] Following the 2011 soft-launch, CashShield engaged in further beta-testing with European telecommunication companies before entering the go-to-market stage in 2014.

Justin Lie was joined by co-founders Irene Brime in 2010, and Jun Xian Lee in 2016.

To reflect the company's evolution and business development, CashShield rebranded to SHIELD in December 2019, [4] with the tagline 'Autonomous Risk Intelligence'.

Technology[edit]

Based on artificial intelligence and machine learning technology with over a decade of domain intelligence, SHIELD provides end-to-end fraud protection for enterprises. Profiling more than 5 billion devices and over 500 million user accounts globally, SHIELD provides real-time risk intelligence, delivering fraud decisions in under 0.1 seconds.

Funding[edit]

SHIELD raised a total of $5 million in its Series A funding in 2017[5], and $20 million in its Series B funding in 2018[6]. Investors include Temasek, GGV Capital, and Tony Fadell's[7] Future Shape.
