SHI Mediwear Pvt. Ltd. (also known as SHI) is a privately owned manufacture and supplier of single-use impervious blood/fluid repellent OT protection Apparel Sets for O.T.'s all over India and abroad with its headquarter in Mudka Industrial Area Delhi. Inspiration for starting concept of single-use garments for OTs/ICUs perceived from the articles, published in British Medical Journal (BMJ) that approx. 30% of deaths in the UK & USA occurs due to Hospital Acquired Infections. People used to go to the hospital for one ailment, get treatments but return with some other hospital-acquired infections. To control such infections, the importance of single-use disposable single-use garments was felt. The founder of SHI Mr. Praveen Gulati visited Cleveland Clinic at Ohio, USA, on the invitation of a leading Indian Surgeon of the clinic to discuss and formulate infection protection disposable single-use garments. On return to India, Mr. Praveen Gulati explored the possibility of manufacturing these garments, based on the samples provided by the Cleveland Clinic and also after discussion with top HODs of prestigious hospitals at Delhi. "SHI" brand of products came into existence. The name of the company was conceptualized as "SHI" which denotes "STOP HOSPITAL ACQUIRED INFECTIONS" with the motto "Do Not Become a Patient Yourself".
