SHY48 is a Chinese idol girl group based in Shenyang, China. It is SNH48's third sister group, after BEJ48 and GNZ48.
Overview
SHY48 is SNH48's third sister group. It has its theatre at the Shenyang Yulongcheng Mall at the Shenhe District in Shenyang, which opened on January 12, 2017.[1] Its name is an abbreviation of the pinyin name of "Shenyang" (SHen Yang), "SHY".
History
2016
On July 30, 2016, Star48 announced the establishment of SHY48 during SNH48's 3rd General Election. At the same time, it started holding auditions for first-generation members. [2] On November 1, auditions were held for SNH48 eighth-generation members, BEJ48 second-generation members, GNZ48 second-generation members and SHY48 second-generation members.
2017
On January 7, during SNH48's third Request Time, 18 first-generation members from Team SIII were revealed to the public. On January 12, Team SIII held its first performance of its 1st stage, "Journey of the Heart".[3]
On February 19, 16 first-generation members assigned to Team HIII are announced. On February 25, Team HIII held its first performance of its 1st stage, "The Flag of The Dream".
From March 9 to May 7, SHY48 held the "SHY48 Xingmeng School Tour", which is similar in format to SNH48's School Tour.
On April 20, they held auditions for third-generation members, together with BEJ48 and GNZ48.
On April 29, 12 second-generation members were announced, of which 5 were assigned to Team SIII and 7 assigned to Team HIII.[4]
On June 1, held the "SHY48 Xingmeng Lollipop" plan.
On July 1, Team SIII held its first performance of its Waiting Stage, "Genius Girl's Diary",[5] and announced that Liu Jiao was appointed Team SIII's captain and Wang Shimeng its co-captain.
On July 29, along with SNH48, BEJ48, GNZ48 and CKG48, SHY48 held auditions for SNH48 ninth-generation, BEJ48, GNZ48 and SHY48 fourth-generation and CKG48 second-generation members.[6]
On September 15, SHY48 released their first EP, Towards the Future (前行的力量).[7][8]
On October 14, they announced four third-generation members assigned to Team SIII. On November 5, eight of SHY48's members were present to cheer for the Liaoning Flying Leopards during one of their matches.[9] On November 11, three third-generation members assigned to Team HIII were announced.
2018
On February 3, 2018, some SHY48 members participated in SNH48's fourth Request Time, in which Wang Shimeng was among the members who participated in the winning song.[10]
