David Isaiah White, known professionally as SLOUT, is an American rapper and record producer from Tampa, Florida. He began making music at the age of 11 and developed his recording identity through early collaborations, independent releases, and self-produced music. Before adopting the name SLOUT, he recorded under names including Black magi and Fullclip.Gg. He established SLOUT as his primary recording identity in 2020.

Early life and career

White began making music around 2014 after developing an interest in artists he heard on the radio, SoundCloud, and Vine. Initially, he approached music as a hobby, writing lyrics and recording songs for enjoyment. His early work involved experimenting with different names and collaborating with other artists.

Black magi and early collaborations

Before adopting the SLOUT name, White released music as Black magi and collaborated with Errolism. The name Black magi was inspired by the anime series Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic. One release associated with this period is “Traffic (feat. White Magi)”.

Fullclip.Gg

During the late 2010s, White was involved with Fullclip.Gg, a collective associated with artists including Errolism, Lil Q, and LaSlime. The name was associated primarily with Goowy Gang. Music from this period included “Empty Clip Pt. 1” and “90K (feat. Fullclip.Gg)”.

White continued recording during 2019, although some of that material was not released until later. He eventually moved away from the earlier group identities and focused on developing a more consistent solo artist identity.

SLOUT

In 2020, White established SLOUT as his primary recording name and began pursuing music more seriously. He also started learning music production so he could create songs independently, from beatmaking through recording and final presentation.

“On Nat Flow”, released in 2020, marked an important step in this transition. The song was produced by SLOUT and was among his first releases under the name to be distributed across streaming platforms. He also released “Not Cool” that year.

#2020 EP and subsequent releases

SLOUT released #2020 EP, a four-track project featuring material from his early period under the name. He followed it with the SoundCloud projects #2020 EP Pt. 2 and No Go.

In 2021, he released “Problem” and Blast EP, a two-track extended play featuring “Me” and “Don't Matter”. The project was intended as a progression from his earlier singles, bringing the songs together as a concise release.

SLOUT continued releasing music independently, including “A While”, “Everything Wrong”, “WTKB (Me 2)”, “Heavy Weight”, and “For Real”.

Musical style and production

SLOUT's approach to music combines rapping with self-directed production. He learned to make beats to gain more control over the recording process rather than relying entirely on outside producers. His workflow typically begins with creating a beat before recording vocals.

He also develops the visual presentation of his releases. After learning the basics of Photoshop in 2020, he began creating artwork for his music, incorporating cover design into his independent creative process.

His influences include Famous Dex, Playboi Carti, Pi'erre Bourne, Lil Percy, Lil Uzi Vert, Logic, Ken Carson, Young Nudy, ICYTWAT, Young Thug, and Deftones.

Blow Smoke Records

SLOUT is associated with Blow Smoke Records, the independent label connected to his releases and earlier collaborative projects. SLOUT and Errolism co-founded the label.
