How SSundee's Name Came to Be[edit]

In his 1,000,000 Subscriber QnA Video, he mentions that he and his friend created Call of Duty accounts with the names of his friend's being Saturdee_ and his being Sundee_. He says they chose those names because the elderly commonly pronounced the days of the week that way. When he made his YouTube channel he used the name SSundee because Sundee was taken, and he decided to keep it.[4]

Style[edit]

In all of SSundee's content, it is mainly directed to a younger audience. Ian himself does not cuss, but he censors slip-ups. He has a energetic personality and tries to add a sense of humor to all of his videos, cracking jokes at points, and playing jokes on people ,which is most likely how he earned his current fame. He usually plays games by request. If he tries a game, and it gets a lot of dislikes, the series will usually end, but if it gets a lot of support, then he will try to make a series or a small play though of the game.

In the beginning of most of his gaming videos, he goes into his "Derp SSundee" persona. In this, he usually says a joke, pun, or something funny related to the video.

Early YouTube Career[edit]

SSundee joined YouTube on November 27th, 2009 as a hobby, uploading Call of Duty, Dota, League of Legends, and more.[5] Then later started to do daily uploads full time.

Around 2011, SSundee was part of a network called Machinima, where he did Top 5 Minecraft Creations, where he featured different people's Minecraft builds and redstone contraptions. This brought a lot of audience to SSundee's channel and then he started to do lets plays for his new subscribers.

SSundee originally started uploading Call of Duty videos, but since been deleted or unlisted. Then later, started making Minecraft videos. SSundee's first Minecraft videos, that we can view, are Minecraft lets plays and mod reviews. His mod reviews were the spotlight of his channel back then.

YouTube Career[edit]

During when SSundee's channel really started to grow in the number of subscribers around three to four years ago, SSundee was uploading videos from multiple series he started. Most popular were, Jail Break, Feed the Beast, and Crazy Craft. This was when his subscriber count when from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 in just about a year, and then to 6,000,000 in about two years.

Later on, he started his first series collaborating with Crainer called, Sky Factory. This is one of SSundee's most popular series on his channel. From then to the present, SSundee has started quite a few series with Crainer, such as another popular series, Lucky Block Challenge, and Who Wants To Be Alive, which was renamed to 100 Ways to Die soon after.

A few series have been on going for a lot time such as Lucky Block Challenge and Murder Run. Many series have been renewed into more seasons. Such as Sky Factory. SSundee started a new season when Sky Factory 2, 2.5 and 3 got released. Jail Break has also been renewed multiple times, with new servers, and new features each time. Factions is another series that has been started multiple times on new servers.

On July 29, 2017, SSundee uploaded a PUBG gaming video where he introduced his new video editor Russel. Since then, Russel has edited all of SSundee's videos. Sometimes he adds little side notes about the video, and what SSundee says. The reason why SSundee wanted an editor, is so that he can spent a little more time with his family, instead of recording, editing, and uploading all day.

Recently, SSundee has been uploading a few videos here and there that aren't Minecraft, such as Fortnite: Battle Royale, theHunter: Call of the Wild, ShellShock Live, The Game of Life, and multiple try not to laugh videos.

Starting a while ago, SSundee started doing videos with his wife Madelyn. She is mainly featured in Minecraft videos, such as the Lucky Block Challenge Series and Murder Run. Along with doing videos with Madelyn and Crainer, SSundee has done videos with other YouTubers and friends as well, such as Crainer's girlfriend Thea, JoblessGarrett, Ambrew, and Nicovald. Thea and Ambrew have been featured on the channel multiple different times in different series.

YouTube Breaks[edit]

On December 26th, 2017, SSundee suddenly stopped uploading videos, and then later on January 3rd, 2018, he uploaded an update video about where he has been and that he has had family problems recently.[6] Then with just over a full month of not uploading, he posted another update video explaining he has moved to Canada now and that his wife and him have separated for the time being.[7] Since all of this happening, he has decided to give his life to Christianity until he feels it's right to start uploading again. On April 14, 2018, SSundee uploaded yet another update video to his channel. In this video, he talked about what has happened to his family very vaguely, and said he will return to uploading videos very soon.[8] He stated that he is now back at his old office where he records at his house. Since then, his first gaming video back from his break, involving Fortnite Battle Royale was uploaded on April 18th, 2018.
