STOP the SPREAD is the world's first multi-platform game to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic by busting the myths and applying behavioural changes to embrace the "new normal" in an experiential learning simulation environment. The game is based on the design thinking and Gamification principles so that the players will learn more and be motivated to share the acquired knowledge with their friends and family to spread the word and to help stop the spread of the corona pandemic. The game “Stop the Spread” helps everyone understand how the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations for social distancing, washing hands, and wearing masks can help save lives.

Gameplay[edit]

Players can choose their Avatar and walk around and perform their daily chores in a real life simulated game environment. If the players continue to perform successfully by practising the social distancing standard operation procedures (SOPs), they will be able to proceed to the level six, which is a classic retro-style arcade shooter where player can destroy the coronavirus by flying around in a soapy ship shooting the coronavirus hordes with soap bubbles.

The game consists of effective UI/UX coupled with appealing creative arts depicting real life environments combined with appropriate sounds effects which helps create a conducive atmosphere which is ideal for knowledge sharing & experiential learning (learning by doing).

Game levels[edit]

Level 1: Facts & Myths
Level 2: Protection
Level 3: Preventions
Level 4: Symptoms
Level 5: Walk the Talk
Level 6: SOAPY to the rescue (Endless game)

The first 4 levels of the game are designed with effective UI/UX coupled with pop-up instructions, for anyone & everyone, especially even for those who've never played any game before, they could also easily play the first 4 levels & almost everyone who played this game reported as per news articles that they have learned something new or properly recall it afterwards. The best strategy to play and score higher in the game, according to the developers, is to remember what you have learned with fun and answer the questions to gain enough points in the first four levels so that you can unlock the rest of the levels. The game also has Leaderboards where players can show off their knowledge and share it with others to motivate them to play as well.

Development[edit]

In February 2020 when Corona Pandemic was on the rise all over the world, whizkid duo Nabhan Khan and Kenan Khan came up with the idea to create a game to help everyone know and understand how to protect themselves from the virus. The kid duo started woking on the game in the end of February and completed the game only in a month's time and released online on 04 April 2020.

This game is a genuine example of social entrepreneurship via use of technology for social good as this game has no advertisements or in-app purchases or micro-transactions. The best part is that the game can also be played without even registration so the developers made it totally free for all in a unique demonstration of selfless spirit for players to learn with fun without even wanting to collect personal information and data of the players. The game is free for every one to play on any device to learn with fun and share the knowledge with others to help spread the word in order to help save lives.

Reception[edit]

Overall reception of the game was positive. People who played this game said it is really a good game for all ages as it helped a lot in learning and understanding about the virus. Most parents and teachers said that the hand washing module helped kids at home and at schools to learn all the steps of hand washing properly in an experiential learning by doing way.
