S Club Party Live was the first concert tour by English pop group S Club 7. The UK arena tour was an instant sell-out when tickets went on sale in September 2000 with 100,000 tickets selling out in a day.[1][2][3]

Background[edit]

On December 20th, the band announced that they had added a further four dates – after over 100,000 tickets for the original dates sold out in just 24 hours.

In a statement, the band say they’re “delighted and in disbelief when we heard how quickly the tickets had sold – that’s one every second. When we realised that some venues had completely sold out and some fans would not have been able to get hold of tickets, we decided to add extra dates to the tour.”[4]

By spring 2001, the group were "desperate" to start touring; it was something which they had always wanted to do, but couldn't because things were "always so hectic". After spending most of early 2001 rehearsing, the S Club Party 2001 tour began on 19 May 2001. Once the tour was over, the group flew to the United States to film the third series of their television show Hollywood 7.[5]

The group topped the UK singles charts with their track Don't Stop Movin' - for the fourth time on the 20th May 2001. The news of the hit came as they began their first live UK tour in Sheffield.[6]

Following the start of the tour, on the 27th April the group announced shows for the following year to satisfy demand. That tour later became known as the Carnival tour. Rachel from the band notes: “It’s not often you get the chance to tour again so quickly – especially not in the same country. It’s great that fans who couldn’t get tickets for this tour get another chance to see us cos usually you’d have to wait for ages until the next tour. It’s great that there isn’t a huge gap between the two – we’re already in shape.”[7]
